MOTION
Upon recommendation of Cheryl Porter, Chief Operating Officer - Water and Field Services, the Board of Directors (Board) of the Great Lakes Water Authority (GLWA), authorizes the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to enter into Contract No. 2000644, "Power Monitor Installation Project" with DES Electric, LLC., at a cost not to exceed $1,623,606.00 for a duration of 589 days; and authorizes the CEO to take such other action as may be necessary to accomplish the intent of this vote.
BACKGROUND
GLWA recognizes the importance of its power usage to achieve its continued vision of reliable and quality water service to its member partners. To this end, a rigorous and detailed condition assessment of the existing instrumentation and control (I&C) and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) assets was performed at each of the water treatment plants. These assessments identified several opportunities for improvement in the areas of automation and system monitoring at all five GLWA water treatment plants. In addition to identifying improvements at the water treatment plants, the condition assessment developed design governance documents to be used at all five water plants to ensure that uniform and consistent systems are being designed and constructed throughout the treatment plants.
