MOTION
Upon recommendation of Cheryl Porter, Chief Operating Officer - Water and Field Services, the Board of Directors (Board) of the Great Lakes Water Authority (GLWA), authorizes the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to enter into Contract No. 2000610 "Yard Piping, Valves and Venturi Meters Replacement at Water Works Park" with LGC Global, Inc., at a cost not to exceed $49,467,913.00 for a duration of 1,780 days; and authorizes the CEO to take such other action as may be necessary to accomplish the intent of this vote.
BACKGROUND
The existing water transmission yard piping at the GLWA Water Works Park Water Treatment Plant (WWP) was installed between 1875 and 1992, with the majority installed prior to 1960. As WWP expanded over the years since 1875, yard piping was added in various decades to keep pace with the system's growing water demands. As a result, the existing network is inefficient and should be reconfigured so that it is hydraulically efficient.
This construction contract will involve constructing new water transmission yard pipes, isolation valves, pressure reducing valves, venturi flow meters, and related appurtenances. The existing yard piping, valves, venturi meters and related equipment will be removed from the site. The project will also address the water production flow metering for WWP.
