MOTION
Upon recommendation of Cheryl Porter, Chief Operating Officer - Water and Field Services, the Board of Directors (Board) of the Great Lakes Water Authority (GLWA), authorizes the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to enter into Contract No. 2001456 "Springwells Water Treatment Plant 1958 Settled Water Conduit and Loading Dock Concrete" with Spence Brothers, at a cost not to exceed $1,235,000.00 for a duration of 420 days; and authorizes the CEO to take such other action as may be necessary to accomplish the intent of this vote.
BACKGROUND
Contract No. 2001456 (CIP No. 114016) is a construction contract that involves replacing deteriorated concrete pavement and a large loading dock at the Springwells Water Treatment Plant (Springwells).
Over the years, the concrete pavement that covers settled water conduit serving the 1958 filters at Springwells has deteriorated to the point where it needs replacement. Similarly, the plant's maintenance building loading dock is also in need of replacement due to its condition.
JUSTIFICATION
The concrete pavement covering the 1958 settled water conduits and the maintenance building loading dock are beyond repair and require replacement. Sound paved surfaces and a new loading dock will allow the plant to operate in these areas in a safe and efficient manner.
