MOTION
Upon recommendation of Cheryl Porter, Chief Operating Officer - Water and Field Services, the Board of Directors (Board) of the Great Lakes Water Authority (GLWA), authorizes the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to enter into Contract No. GLWA-CS-201 "Job Order Contract for Construction, Environmental, Special Testing, Inspection, and Other Technical Services" with Professional Service Industries, Inc. at a cost not to exceed $1,400,000.00 for a duration of 1,095 days; and authorizes the CEO to take such other action as may be necessary to accomplish the intent of this vote.
BACKGROUND
Construction materials, environmental, and geotechnical testing are used for a variety of reasons, including but not limited to: (a) conducting independent construction quality control, (b) confirming construction materials test results provided by construction contractors, (c) obtaining soils, geotechnical and environmental technical data as part of study projects to properly plan and scope subsequent design and construction projects, and (d) assess environmental conditions such as lead-based paint, asbestos-containing materials, polychlorinated biphenyls, mercury-containing devices, and contaminated soils. Typical construction materials testing includes concrete, asphalt, steel, and masonry.
