MOTION

 

Upon recommendation and opinion of Suzanne R. Coffey, Chief Executive Officer, and David W. Jones, General Counsel, the Board of Directors for the Great Lakes Water Authority (GLWA) (1) approves and authorizes the execution of an Easement Agreement between GLWA and Wolverine Pipe Line Company, property owner of the property located at 12100 Pleasant Street, Detroit, Michigan, 48217 and (2) authorizes the Chief Executive Officer to take such other action as may be necessary to accomplish the intent of this vote. 

 

JUSTIFICATION

GLWA must acquire this easement, which is located on the property owned by Wolverine Pipe Line Company. This property is needed for the Northwest Interceptor to Oakwood CSO Sewer project. Without this purchase, GLWA cannot move forward with the project cost-effectively.

BUDGET IMPACT

 Property acquisitions were included in the Northwest Interceptor to Oakwood CSO Sewer project budget.

COMMITTEE REVIEW

This matter was presented to the Legal Committee for consideration at its meeting on September 25, 2024. The Legal Committee unanimously recommended that the GLWA Board adopt the resolution as presented.

This request does not impact the Shared Services Agreement.
