MOTION
Upon recommendation and opinion of Suzanne R. Coffey, P.E., Interim Chief Executive Officer, and Randal M. Brown, General Counsel, the Board of Directors (Board) for the Great Lakes Water Authority (GLWA):
(1) Approves the Agreement and Grant of Easement for Storm Water Drainage Outlet Pipe between Lakeshore Distribution, Detroit and GLWA; and
(2) Authorizes the Interim Chief Executive Officer to take such other action as may be necessary to accomplish the intent of this vote, including the execution of the Purchase Agreement and closing documents.
JUSTIFICATION
Lakeshore Distribution desires an easement to discharge storm water directly to the Connors Creek Canal via a 36-inch outlet pipe. Lakeshore Distribution will pay $80,000 for the underground easement.
It is anticipated the outlet drainage pipe will reduce peak flow to the combined local and regional system. Lakeshore Distribution will fund the construction of the outlet pipe.
Based on information and belief, Detroit has reviewed the plans for the storm water outlet pipe and is in support of the plan to remove storm water from Lakeshore Distribution's property and discharge it directly to the Connor Creek Canal.
BUDGET IMPACT
In addition to the $80,000, stormwater drainage from Lakeshore Distribution's impervious surfaces will be captured and delivered directly to the Connors Creek Canal. This will reduce the amount of stormwater entering the regional system and the costs asso...
