MOTION
Upon recommendation and opinion of Randal M. Brown, General Counsel, the Board of Directors (Board) for the Great Lakes Water Authority (GLWA) (1) approves the City of Detroit entering into an Easement Agreement with the City of Southfield for a sidewalk within the West Service Center Property and (2) authorizes the Interim Chief Executive Officer to take such other action as may be necessary to accomplish the intent of this vote.
JUSTIFICATION
For site plan approval of Contract 1803312 at GLWA’s West Service Center, a sidewalk needs to be provided on the frontage of the West Service Center. Typically, this would be west of the property line within the right-of-way, but there are existing utilities that interfere with this path (beehive catch basins and power poles). An easement for a sidewalk within the West Service Center property line would avoid relocating any existing utilities. This sidewalk will be outside the fence and would not affect the West Service Center in any appreciable way.
If approved by the GLWA Board, the City of Detroit will evaluate the granting of this easement to the City of Southfield.
