RE: Merriman Water Main Maintenance Agreement between Wayne County and GLWA
MOTION
Upon recommendation and opinion of Randal M. Brown, General Counsel, the Board of Directors (Board) for the Great Lakes Water Authority (GLWA) recommends the (1) approval of the attached Maintenance Agreement between GLWA and Wayne County and (2) authorization for the Chief Executive Officer to take such other action as may be necessary to accomplish the intent of this vote, including the execution of a Maintenance Agreement.
JUSTIFICATION
GLWA is installing a 24” water transmission main between Venoy Avenue and Merriman Road which connects to the east discharge of Michigan Avenue Pump Station. A portion of the water main will be installed within a Wayne County Park. GLWA seeks access to install and maintain the water main within the park. The Maintenance Agreement between Wayne County and GLWA grants GLWA the authority to proceed with the work. The work improves upon the transmission of water to the Cities of Wayne, Westland and Inkster.
BUDGET IMPACT
This request does not impact the GLWA’s budget.
COMMITTEE REVIEW
This matter was presented to the Legal Committee at its October 24, 2018 meeting. The Legal Committee unanimously recommended that the GLWA Board adopt the resolution as presented.
SHARED SERVICES IMPACT
This request does not impact the Shared Services Agreement.
