RE:                     Purchase of an Easement located at 750 S. Deacon and 754 N. Deacon in Detroit, MI necessary for the NOCSOS Project to construct and install a relief sewer tunnel connecting the Northwest Interceptor to the Oakwood CSO Control Facility

MOTION

 

Upon recommendation of Phyllis Hurks, General Counsel, the Board of Directors (Board) of the Great Lakes Water Authority (GLWA), authorizes the purchase of an Easement at 750 S. Deacon and 754 N. Deacon in Detroit, MI; and authorizes the CEO to take such other action as may be necessary to accomplish the intent of this vote. 

BACKGROUND

The Board has received a confidential attorney-client communication regarding the above-referenced purchase.

 

JUSTIFICATION

The purchase of this property is necessary for GLWA’s NOCSOS Project. The project will construct and install a relief sewer tunnel connecting the Northwest Interceptor to the Oakwood CSO Control Facility.

BUDGET IMPACT

The proposed property purchase, if finalized, is within the budget for this project included in the approved 2024-2029 capital improvement plan.

This matter was reviewed by the Legal Committee at its meeting on May 27, 2026. 

SHARED SERVICES IMPACT

This item does not impact the shared services agreement between GLWA and DWSD.
