MOTION
Upon recommendation of Cheryl Porter, Chief Operating Officer - Water and Field Services, the Board of Directors (Board) of the Great Lakes Water Authority (GLWA), authorizes the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to enter into Contract No. 1802448, "Engineering, Design and Construction Assistance Services for the 14 Mile Transmission Main" with Brown and Caldwell, LLC at a cost not to exceed $6,819,890.00 for a duration of 4 years, 10 months; and authorizes the CEO to take such other action as may be necessary to accomplish the intent of this vote.
BACKGROUND
Contract No. 1802448 (CIP No. 122013) is a professional engineering services contract that involves the design and construction administration services related to the capital improvements to construct a new transmission main from 8 Mile Road to 14 Mile Road along the Halsted/Haggerty Corridor to provide redundancy to the existing single feed transmission system along 14 Mile Road. In the GLWA 2015 Water Master Plan Update, several areas in the transmission system were noted as needing improvements in redundancy. In many cases, these redundancy concerns centered on the issue of single feed transmission systems with no redundancy.
