MOTION

 

Upon recommendation of Suzanne R. Coffey, P.E., Chief Executive Officer (CEO), and David Jones, General Counsel, the Board of Directors of the Great Lakes Water Authority (GLWA), hereby moves for the following:

 

(1)                     approval of a Purchase Agreement between GLWA and property owner Marathon Petroleum Company, LP, including the execution of a Purchase Agreement, for land in the City of Detroit, County of Wayne, and State of Michigan, described as follows:

 

 

 

 

a)                     Lot(s) 128 of OAKWOOD SUBDIVISION according to the plat thereof recorded in Liber 13 of Plats, Page 36 of Wayne County Records.

(2) authorization for the Chief Executive Officer to take such other action as may be necessary to accomplish the intent of this vote. 

 

JUSTIFICATION

 

GLWA must acquire these properties owned by Marathon Petroleum Company, LP. This property is needed for the Northwest Interceptor to Oakwood CSO Sewer project. Without this purchase agreement, GLWA cannot move forward with the project in the most cost-effective manner.

 

BUDGET IMPACT

 

Property acquisitions were included in the Northwest Interceptor to Oakwood CSO Sewer project budget.

 

COMMITTEE REVIEW

 

This matter was presented to the Legal Committee at its meeting on January 24, 2024.  The Legal Committee unanimously recommended that the GLWA Board adopt the resolution as presented.

 

SHARED SERVICES IMPACT

 

This request does not impact the Shared Services Agreement between GLWA and DWSD.
