Water Works Park HVAC Improvements
Vendor: HDR Michigan, Inc.
MOTION
Upon recommendation of Cheryl Porter, Chief Operating Officer - Water and Field Services, the Board of Directors (Board) of the Great Lakes Water Authority (GLWA), authorizes the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to enter into Contract No. 1802499, Proposed Amendment No. 1, “Water Works Park HVAC Improvements” with HDR Michigan, Inc., with no increase in cost for a total cost not to exceed $1,350,000.00 and an increased duration of 507 days for a total duration of 1,797 days; and authorizes the CEO to take such other action as may be necessary to accomplish the intent of this vote.
BACKGROUND
Contract No. 1802499 is a professional engineering services contract that involves the design, construction administration and resident project representation services related to improving the heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) system in chemical storage and process areas of the Water Works Park Water Treatment Plant (WWP). HDR Michigan, Inc. began design work in the fall of 2020 with the scope of improving the existing HVAC system so that it meets current codes, standards, and best practices for management of indoor air quality. Subsequent design work was sent to public bid in early 2022, with Commercial Contracting Corporation (CCC) winning construction Contract No. 2103380. CCC began construction activities shortly after the notice-to-proceed, August 1, 2022, and is scheduled to finish construction sometime in early 2025.
JUSTIFICATION
As required by Contract No. 1802499, HDR Michigan, Inc. has been providing construction administration services and resident project representative services for the construction portion of the CIP project. HDR Michigan, Inc.’s professional services contract is set to expire on April 9, 2024. This date falls short of the final completion date of the construction portion of the CIP project, August 29, 2025. The purpose of this amendment is to extend the contract end date of Contract No.1802499 to protect GLWA’s interests by continuing construction administration services and resident project representative services provided by HDR Michigan, Inc.
