MOTION

 

Upon recommendation of Suzanne R. Coffey, P.E., Chief Executive Officer (CEO), and David W. Jones, General Counsel, the Board of Directors of the Great Lakes Water Authority (GLWA), hereby moves for the following:

 

(1) approval of a Temporary Easement Agreement between GLWA and property owner, City of Detroit, including execution of a Temporary Easement Agreement, for properties located in the City of Detroit, County of Wayne, and State of Michigan, described as follow:

(2) authorization for the Chief Executive Officer to take such other action as may be necessary to accomplish the intent of this vote. 

 

JUSTIFICATION

GLWA must acquire this temporary easement, which is located on the property owned by City of Detroit. This property is needed for the Northwest Interceptor to Oakwood CSO Sewer project. Without this purchase agreement, GLWA cannot move forward with the project cost-effectively.

 

BUDGET IMPACT

Property acquisitions were included in the Northwest Interceptor to Oakwood CSO Sewer project budget.

COMMITTEE REVIEW

This matter was presented to the Legal Committee at its meeting on September 25, 2024. The Legal Committee unanimously recommended that the GLWA Board adopt the resolution as presented.

SHARED SERVICES IMPACT

This request does not impact the Shared Services Agreement between GLWA and DWSD.
