MOTION
Upon recommendation of Navid Mehram, Chief Operating Officer - Wastewater Operating Services, the Board of Directors (Board) of the Great Lakes Water Authority (GLWA), authorizes the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to enter into Contract No. 2202790/SCN No. 0000382, Proposed Amendment No. 1, “WRRF Improvements to Sludge Feed Pumps at Dewatering Facilities” with CDM Smith Michigan, Inc., with an increased cost of $200,000.00 for a total cost not to exceed $4,546,982.00 and no increase in duration for a total duration of 1,255 days; and authorizes the CEO to take such other action as may be necessary to accomplish the intent of this vote.
BACKGROUND
GLWA awarded Contract No. 2202790 “WRRF Improvements to the Sludge Feed System Pumps at Dewatering Facilities” to CDM Smith Michigan, Inc. (Engineer). The Contract is an Engineering Design services agreement for improvements to the Sludge Feed System, including replacing aged and improperly sized components, incorporating sludge feed loops into the conveyance systems, and providing improvements to the Sludge Storage Tank Pipe Gallery to mitigate future gallery flooding events.
JUSTIFICATION
The Contract includes a provisional allowance of $400,000.00 that has been utilized for design services to add improvements to the scope of work, such as electrical and control room improvements, identification and removal of previously abandoned infrastructure to eliminate obstructions and make it easier for our Operations and Maintenance Team to know what is and is not in service. This amendment will increase the allowance to facilitate immediate needs for State Revolving Fund funding documentation assistance, application for City of Detroit Building Permits, and to address any other future items as they arise throughout the completion of the design and the construction procurement effort.
