MOTION
Upon recommendation of Navid Mehram, Chief Operating Officer - Wastewater Operating Services, the Board of Directors (Board) of the Great Lakes Water Authority (GLWA), authorizes the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to enter into Contract No. 2102824, Proposed Change Order No. 1, “Rehabilitation of Northwest Interceptor - 8 Mile to Tireman” with LGC Global, Inc., with no increase in cost for a total cost not to exceed $6,934,703.00 and an increased duration of 71 days for a total contract duration of 701 days; and authorizes the CEO to take such other action as may be necessary to accomplish the intent of this vote.
BACKGROUND
The Northwest Interceptor from 8 Mile to Tireman construction project came out of a task assigned in GLWA’s CS-168 Engineering Contract. The project includes flow control, manhole (MH) upgrades, additional access MH’s, debris removal, minor repairs, and spot repairs.
JUSTIFICATION
The construction extension is the result of utilizing a different flow control pattern during the construction than was established during design. This change from GLWA was ordered as a result of weather patterns during the construction period that had more frequent, smaller events. To mitigate the risk of potential system back up, the decision was made to have daily flow control instead of longer-term flow left in place as originally planned. The change in the flow control strategy increased the effort for the construction project, and thus, extending the project to the above date.
