MOTION
Upon recommendation of Cheryl Porter, Chief Operating Officer - Water and Field Services, the Board of Directors (Board) of the Great Lakes Water Authority (GLWA), authorizes the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to enter into Contract No. 2004674/SCN-0000441, Proposed Change Order No. 1, “Engineering, Design, and Construction Assistance Services for North Service Center Pump Station Improvements” with CDM Smith Michigan, Inc., for an increased cost of $180,658.00 for a cost not to exceed $15,011,748.36 and no increase in duration for a total duration of 2,545 days; and authorizes the CEO to take such other action as may be necessary to accomplish the intent of this vote.
BACKGROUND
Contract No. 2004674 is a design-bid-build contract focused on the rehabilitation of the North Service Center Pumping Station. The rehabilitation will improve electrical reliability and efficiency. Electrical improvements will include replacement of two (2) switchgears, two (2) variable drives, a unit substation, four (4) excitation systems, and various panelboards. Mechanical improvements include replacement of six (6) horizontal split case pumps and their 2,500 horsepower motors, replacement of pump suction and discharge piping and valves, and addition of a discharge header. Yard piping modifications and operational flexibility by the addition of isolation valves. Control improvements will integrate new electrical and mechanical equipment for operation. Contract No. 2004674 will be substantially completed by July 31, 2031.
JUSTIFICATION
The intent of the funds requested in this Change Order is to replenish the Provisional Allowance. Field Order No. 4 was issued to complete a redesign of vibration monitoring devices to align with GLWA's most current, and newly issued, standards. These funds will address design changes necessary to complete the design.
